The General LeeThis entry was posted on 5/6/2007 8:12 AM and is filed under Interesting. Ok, I admit it, when I was a teenager I used to watch "The Dukes of Hazzard". What red blooded American boy could avert his eyes from Daisy Duke ( Catherine Bach )? And the guys were shooting sticks of dynamite on arrows because they weren't allowed to own firearms. How cool and dumb was that. Somehow it worked. Then there was the General Lee, a 1969 Dodge Charger, perfect for any southerner running moonshine. That struck another chord with me since I was driving a 1973 Plymouth Road Runner that used to eat Corvettes and Chevelles for breakfast. The most exciting race I was in was the one I out ran the Goldsboro City Police. That's another story for another day.
So why do I bring all this up? The General Lee was just auctioned on eBay. It was one of the Dodge Chargers used on the show and it was acquired by John Schneider and modified and used by him. And when I say it's been modified, wow. The engine is 725 horsepower and has a Viper roll cage and Viper disc brakes. The car will go over 200 miles per hour. Also, the car is autographed by cast members of the show. How much was the final bid for? Well $9,900,500.00 ! Yes, just under 10 million US Dollars. I wonder how much money John Schneider has made in acting, because I think he should have been a car salesman. I don't know how long eBay will leave the page active, but I'll link it here. Cool. ![]() |
